Modern Royalty? An Empire at Stake? Love on the Line? Check Out This Book Beauty’s Review!

It seems that winter decided to hit most of the nation all at once, including This Book Beauty. My kids have been home on winter break for an entire extra week, and man, am I ready for them to go back to school. Their brains need the mental stimulation, and I need a break for my brain.

I was incredibly excited to be gifted a ton of books on my TBR list for Christmas, but before I could get started on those, I needed to finish the trilogy I received from my amazing husband for my birthday! Well, I finally did it and you know what that means, it’s time for This Book Beauty’s review of The Dreamland Billionaires by Lauren Asher! Get Excited!

The Dreamland Billionaires by Lauren Asher

Born into a family empire built on fairytales, one may expect the three Kane brothers to be idealistic dreamers with magic in their souls. But, not everything that looks magical is, and sometimes what goes on behind closed doors can kill off any magic that may exist, or can it?

The Dreamland Billionaires is a trilogy with each book focusing on one of the three Kane brothers as they seek to earn their place in the family company according to their grandfather’s will.

Book 1: The Fine Print

Book 1, The Fine Print, follows the youngest brother, Rowan, as he works to complete the task outlined by his grandfather’s will. Completing his task isn’t going to be easy though, especially not when he has to confront a painful past to accomplish it, a past filled with self-loathing and self-doubt strong enough to choke. Meanwhile, the grumpy new boss won’t deter Zahra’s love for Dreamland and life. She’s out to prove herself worthy and make her mark on Dreamland! Set in an idealistic fairytale dream amusement park, the reader is gifted the opportunity to view the park and what it represents from both characters’ points of view. Rowan’s pessimistic attitude and Zahra’s sunshine personality make for the perfect grumpy/sunshine trope in this first installment of The Dreamland Billionaires trilogy.

Book 2: Terms & Conditions

Book 2, Terms & Conditions follows the eldest Kane brother, Declan. Declan, as the eldest brother, knows his job and does it well, to a fault. He has aspirations that go beyond mediocre at every turn and his goals will solidify his position as CEO of the Dreamland empire, just as soon as he completes the task laid out for him by his grandfather. Iris is Declan’s righthand-woman, ready to do anything necessary to launch her boss’s dreams into action, except, the lifestyle is wearing her down and she needs a change. With the will of Declan’s grandfather in play, Iris is willing to do what is necessary to help Declan attain CEO and maybe gain some freedom of her own. No matter how closely they work though, love was never part of the deal.

Book 3: Final Offer

Book 3, Final Offer, is the last book in the trilogy and follows the middle brother, Callahan, through his tumultuous daily life as he works to fulfill his portion of his grandfather’s will. Cal is a happy-go-lucky man who lets his brother’s pessimism roll off of him like a duck, most of the time. Despite the persona he wears in public though, Cal’s ability to shrug off almost any insult hides a darker pain that he struggles with and has for years. Of all the brothers, Cal may be the glue that holds them together.

Cal takes a painful trip down memory lane and back to the town of summers spent with his grandfather. Alana’s life hasn’t gone exactly as planned, with the people closest to her being the ones to let her down consistently. When Cal returns to Wisteria Lake for the summer, the past comes roaring back dangling hope in front of her and then taking it away just as quickly. Lana must do whatever she can to protect the life she’s built, even if it means breaking her own heart. Set in a picturesque small town, Final Offer explores a young love twisted by dark and painful realities and what can happen when something is stronger than hate.

Book 1 and 2’s male protagonists are grumpy and controlling and these books have spice sprinkled throughout as they struggle to reconcile their own desires with those that come to a head throughout the course of the book.

Book 3 is spicy and emotional, dealing with adult themes including but not limited to: addiction.

Overall, I enjoyed this trilogy and give the trilogy overall a 5-star rating! It isn’t what I typically read but the characters are well-written and the play on the Dreamland empire is an interesting dynamic to explore. The author also provides a variety of conflicts to challenge the characters in their growth journey.

Happy Reading!
