You know the author or authors, who you read one of their books, and the next thing you know, you’ve gone down the rabbit hole and devoured everything they’ve written? Yeah, that was me with Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series. The next thing I knew, I had read everything available on Amazon.
I had a geek-out moment when I reached out to Tee and she responded she would be happy to talk to This Book Beauty Blog! It was such a great experience getting to ask Tee all of the questions I love to know about my favorite authors, including how they got their start, their writing process, and what’s next in their writing world.

Check out This Book Beauty’s interview with romantic suspense author, Tee O’Fallon!
Tee O’Fallon spent twenty-three years working as a federal agent in various capacities and that experience has definitely played a part in her writing.
You have such an interesting background, working as a federal agent for 23 years, how easily was incorporating your career into your writing?
“My background provided me with a solid foundation in police and federal policy and procedure that shortcut the background research I had to do for most of my books, making them so much easier to write. I only had to research specific areas that I had no experience in, such as arson investigations, which was the underlying crime in Burning Justice (K-9 Special Ops, book 2).“
Don’t cross her though! One benefit of being a writer is that you can take any negative interactions and turn them to your advantage in your writing. One such antagonistic character came from her days as a federal agent leading to a moment in Burnout (NYPD Blue & Gold, book 1) where Tee says, “I made him pee his pants in front of a room full of detectives :).”
And honestly as a reader? I love this!
Two of Tee O’Fallon’s published series feature K-9 officers predominantly throughout and the K-9 officers are just as integral to the stories as the main characters, oftentimes playing an important role in the rescue or rehabilitation of main and side characters. So of course I had to ask:
In your time as a federal agent, were you a K-9 officer at any point? What led you to include K-9s in your books?
Though Tee was never a K-9 officer as a federal agent, dogs have played an essential role in her life. Evidence of their significance is found throughout her books.
“I’d . . . been posting pics of me and my Belgian Sheepdogs on social media, and my editor asked me if I’d ever thought about writing a K-9 series. Thick-skulled that I am, I said no, I hadn’t. The rest is history. First came my Federal K-9 series, followed by K-9 Special Ops. K-9s are a specialized aspect of law enforcement, and few have the opportunity to be a K-9 officer. I truly believe I missed my calling.“
“I also worked very hard on making that aspect of my books as realistic as possible. I met with many K-9 officers and their partners and spoke at length with them to get things as right as possible.”
Evidence of the important role K-9s play in Tee’s life as well as in the assistance of law enforcement agencies throughout the United States can be found throughout Tee’s social media, her website, and in both of Tee O’Fallon’s K-9 series: Federal K-9 Series (7 books) and K-9 Special Ops Trilogy.

With how much I enjoyed each of Tee’s series, I thought she had always aspired to be an author! Turns out, writing hadn’t even crossed her mind until her late twenties. We may have a beach vacation, a DNF’ed book, and Tee’s (then) boyfriend to thank for the beginning of Tee’s writing career.
“Ned said to me: Tee, you’re a good writer, and you have so many creative ideas for stories floating around in your head… Why don’t you write your own book? So we went back to the bookstore, where Ned bought me a pretty purple leatherbound notebook with blank pages. We then returned to the beach, and I started jotting down ideas for a book.”
While the original idea Tee wrote down at the time wasn’t published, it will be seeing the light of day soon as book 2 in her new series!
And of course, I had to ask the question that burns in every reader’s mind: I know it isn’t necessarily fair to ask if you have a favorite of your stories, but if you had to choose one, which story sticks with you the most? I personally love Nick Houston and Saxon and have read/listened to Armed ‘N’ Ready several times! I think that duo will always have a special place on my bookshelf.
“You’re right, it is indeed very difficult for me to pick a fave. I work extra hard to create heroes my readers will fall in love with – hot, hunky, heroic and strong, but with a soft side and a soft heart they might not even be aware of. But great minds think alike…Armed ’N’ Ready is right there at the top of my list. Nick Houston turned out be one of my most dreamworthy, swoonworthy heroes. If I had a book-boyfriend, I’d probably choose him. He’s got such a tragic backstory, and I love his character arc and the role Andi plays in healing him. Like the Dog Park Café in that book, I have my own Wall of Dog.”
Gah, I do love Nick Houston! His K-9 partner, Saxon is also amazing!
Though Tee’s first three series are traditionally published, she is striking out and is independently publishing for her latest series, the FBI Strikeforce series. Book one . . . IS COMING OUT THIS YEAR!! 2025 will see the introduction of all new characters to love and heart-pounding suspense and romance with the release of Perfect Vengeance!

Make sure to leave reviews for any books you read!
“There is no prescribed length that a review needs to be. It can be as long or as short as the reviewer wants. A star rating is great, but reading specifics about what another reader liked/disliked about a book helps others determine if the book would interest them. And yes, reviews are important to ALL authors, indie, trad, or hybrid. Reviews are an author’s lifeblood, so keep those reviews coming whether they’re good, bad, or ugly.”
Tee has a busy 2025 with writing for her new series, but you can find her out and about this year at the Tropicon Branson, MO on May 10th and RomantiConn in Trumbull, CT on July 26.
Join me next week for the part of the interview where I got to ask Tee questions about her writing process and what it means to be able to write a hero’s backstory!
*This is not a paid promotion; I just really enjoy Tee O’Fallon’s books!*
Happy Reading!
